I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

The Bible, in the book of Revelation (Chapter 17), seen by the prophet John, tells of a woman riding a beast. This beast is the 4th of the beasts listed in the book of Daniel (Chapter 7), which is, according to the prophecy, the revived Roman Empire.
The prophecies of Daniel have been found to be so accurate, many people have tried to discredit the book of Daniel as being written after the events it foretold, because it was so specifically correct in every historical respect, so if this woman is riding the beast which will become the kingdom that brings in the Anti-Christ, and the greatest tribulation the world has even known (Matthew 24:21), then it would be important to know who this woman is, and what role she plays.






And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

In my search for cities on seven hills, I found roughly 50 cities that are recognized to sit on seven hills. This narrows down our search for this particular city in Revelation. Now we need more verses in Revelation 17 that accurately describe which one of these cities match the prophecy.

The book of Daniel reveals the first four beasts of Revelation: Again, the fifth beast of Revelation is the revived fourth beast, and since the Roman Empire is the fourth beast, let's consider Rome for a moment. Rome is a city that sits on seven hills, and historically, it is well-known as "The City of Seven Hills." Even the Vatican Encyclopedia states:
"It is within the city of Rome, called the city of seven hills, that the entire area of Vatican State proper is now confined."

And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Could Babylon the Great be the city of prophcy? I have seen many people write about their beliefs that Babylon is the woman of prophecy, and Saddam Hussein, before he was executed, was rebuilding the ancient city:




So is this the woman of Revelation 17? No, Babylon cannot be the city of prophecy. It would not be accurate according to the description because Babylon does not rest on seven hills, so we need to look for other clues.

Just because Babylon is written on the woman's forehead, does not mean that will be the name of the city. However, Rome has been referred to figuratively as Babylon:
"Babylon is a code word for Rome. It is used that way six times in the last book of the Bible [four of the six are in chapters 17 and 18 and in extrabiblical works such as Sibylling Oracles (5, 159f.), the Apocalypse of Baruch (ii, 1), and 4 Esdras (3:1). Eusebius Pamphilius, writing about 303, noted that "it is said that Peter's first epistle... was composed at Rome itself; and that he himself indicates this, referring to the city figuratively as Babylon."

Rome's Catechism states that liturgy "aims to initiate souls into the mystery of Christ (It is 'mystagogy.')" and all of the Catholic Church's liturgy is "mystery."

Certainly the Roman Catholic Church takes on the essence of mystery when you look at their long history of hoarding knowledge, and their popes took great effort to prevent the Bible being translated into English, so the common man could not read it. Could it be that Rome is the woman described in Revelation? Rome seems to match the description of being on seven hills, and being referred to as Mystery and Babylon, but before we come to a definite conclusion, let's look at the other descriptions.





I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore... with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

fornication: voluntary sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other

Now obviously, literal fornication would be impossible for a city. This part of Revelation is obviously speaking figuratively about actual events that will come to pass. The only way spiritual fornication would be possible for a city is if the city was a spiritually recognized entity.

The Bible makes mention of fornication in two ways: Sometimes in a fleshly sense of two unmarried persons in bed with each other, (Matthew 5:32) and other times in a spiritual sense, concerning the worshiping of other gods over the LORD God. (2 Chronicles 21:11) Revelation 17 is obviously referring to spiritual fornication via idolatry, so if the city (the woman riding the beast) was a spiritual city, this would make much more sense.

For example, Jerusalem is a spiritual city called The Holy City. It was chosen by God to represent Him, His Word, and His Chosen People. They committed fornication with other gods, and has, in the past, become a harlot (Isaiah 1:21), but this is not the city talked about in Revelation. Jerusalem is not built on seven hills, and is not referred to as Babylon. However, Rome is also considered a holy city by many, because it is the headquarters for the Roman Catholic Church.
The Roman Catholic Church has been in bed with world rulers for almost 1700 years, starting first with the Roman Emperor Constantine:
"When Emperor Constantine supposedly became a Christian in AD 313 (really a clever political maneuver), he gave freedom to Christians as well as official status alongside paganism to the Christian church. Since the church was now a recognized religious body in the empire, Constantine, as emperor, had to be acknowledged as its de facto head. As such, he convened the first ecumenical council, the Council of Nicea, in AD 325, set its agenda, gave the opening speech, and presided over it as Charlemagne would over the Council of Chalon 500 years later. Interested not in the truth of the gospel but in unifying the empire, Constantine was the first ecumenist and introduced that error into the persecution-wearied church."

Constantine deceived many Christians of that day, appearing to promote Christ's Gospel, when in reality, his goal was to unify the Roman Empire under his own leadership. He took up a position that was reserved for Christ alone:
"As head of the pagan priesthood he was the Pontifex Maximus and needed a similar title as head of the Christian church. The Christians honored him as 'Bishop of Bishops,' while Constantine called himself Vicarius Christi, Vicar of Christ. He meant that he was "another Christ" acting int he place of Christ. When translated into Greek, however, as we have seen, Vicarius Christi literally means Antichrist."

Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

Mike Gendron of Reaching Catholics for Christ describes the pope's efforts for a one-world religion attempting to unify all under his own banner just as Constantine attempted:
"It is indeed disturbing to see so many evangelicals unaware of the Vatican's strategy for bringing the world under the dominion of the papacy. The Vatican has made a concerted effort since 1965 to bring their 'separated brothers' back home to 'holy mother the church.' In his 1995 encyclical Et Unum Sint, Pope John Paul II said he intends 'to promote every suitable initiative...to increase the unity of all Christians until they reach full communion' and 'to encourage the efforts of all who work for the cause of unity.' The pope's stated desire is 'to gather all people and all things into Christ, so as to be for all: an inseparable sacrament of unity... expressed in the common celebration of the Eucharist.' During a week of prayer for Christian unity Pope John Paul II said, 'I gladly take this opportunity to call the attention of all believers to the ecumenical commitment that marked VC II. The council rightly defined the division among Christians as a scandal. The council Fathers felt the need to beg pardon of God and of their brethren for the sins committed against unity.' He asked Catholics 'to cultivate an authentic spiritual ecumenism' through the Virgin Mary [not through the Lord Jesus]. The success of the pope's push for unity can be seen by the announcement made last year by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He urged all Christians to recognize the Pope as the supreme authority of a new global church (6/99 CRN News)."

A Day of Prayer for Peace in the World was issued on October 27th, 1986, by Pope John Paul II, in an attempt to unite the world's religions together under his supervision. His efforts are still being dupicated today in the Catholic church. This is foolish mankind trying to create a wide gate to heaven, which violates the truth of God's Word.

Christ said that His Kingdom is not of this world:

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

The Catholic Church has raised armies, and fought in many battles to establish an empire of this world. This Catholic Empire has amassed property, wealth, and influence to a point of rivaling any other empire in history. The Catholic Church has engaged in partnerships with emperors and kings, and therefore also, spiritual fornication with the kings of the earth. They claim to be the bride of Christ, yet they've been in bed with earthly rulers throughout the last 1700 years.

To take more recent examples, there were alliances with fascist dictators, like Mussolini. The Vatican put Mussolini into power, via praises from Pope Pius XI and his cardinals. They claimed he was a man chosen by God, and forbid Roman Catholics to oppose him politically. In return, Mussolini signed a concordant with the Vatican in 1929, which announced Catholicism to be the sole religion of Italy.
The Vatican received huge cash and bond payments in the agreement:
"Attached [to the concordant] was a Convenzione finanziaria, that is, a financial agreement, according to which Italy paid to the Holy See 750 million lire cash and one billion lire in State bonds."

Four years later, in 1933, the Catholics signed a similar concordant with Adolf Hitler. The Catholic Church received many millions of German marks in agreement to the signing of that concordant, and Article 16 states the following:
"Before bishops take possession of their dioceses they are to take an oath of fealty either to the Reich representative of the state concerned, or to the President of the Reich, according to the following formula:
Before God and on the Holy Gospels I swear and promise, as becomes a bishop, loyalty to the German Reich and to the State of... I swear and promise to honor the legally constituted government and to cause the clergy of my diocese to honor it. In the performance of my spiritual office and in my solicitude for the welfare and the interests of the German Reich, I will endeavor to avoid all detrimental acts which might endanger it."

But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

Even more recently, the pope's alliance with Ronald Regan and the CIA helps demonstrates the hidden extent of this Catholic Earthly Empire. Secretary of State Alexander Haig commented on the Vatican's help, saying, "The Vatican's information was absolutely better and quicker than ours in every respect,"

The Vatican liaison to the White House, Archbishop Pio Laghi, told American officials, "Listen to the Holy Father. We have 2000 years experience of this."

Two-thousand years of political exchange? These are just a few of the thousands of examples throughout the last 1700 years of the Roman Catholic Church's involvement in fornication with the kings of the earth. It is plain to see that they have repeatedly engaged in adulterous relationships with secular rulers, and do so to this day.

I call it the Roman Catholic Empire for a reason:
"Popes have long claimed dominion over the world and its peoples. Pope Gregory XI's papal bull of 1372 (In Coena Domini) claimed papal dominion over the entire Christian world, secular and religious, and excommunicated all who failed to obey the popes and to pay them taxes. In Coena was confirmed by subsequent popes and in 1568 Pope Pius V swore that it was to remain an eternal law."

In 1870, two months after the Vatican declared the popes to be infallible, Rome was released from papal dominion by the newly liberated Italian army and Pope Pius IX took refuge in the Vatican. Today, despite the efforts of Italy's army in the 19th century, the Catholic Church owns a great deal of Rome, and its influence, wealth, and power is increasing daily.

"I really wish that someday a book containing the U.N. [United Nations] speeches of the 2 Popes... might be published for worldwide distribution. The result would be a kind of Bible for modern times... The Holy See has become so close to the U.N. When I read documents emanating from the Holy See... I sometimes have the impression that I'm reading U.N. documents."

We're now up to four qualifications that would accurately point out the city (the woman):
  1. She is a city.
  2. She is built on seven hills.
  3. She is known as Babylon.
  4. She has committed spiritual fornication with the kings of the earth.
Rome (the spiritual Roman Catholic Church, under which Rome operates) meets all the qualifications thus far, but just to be sure, let's compare the Roman Catholic Church, to the rest of Revelation's descriptions.





And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

This does not require much explanation. A simple peek inside a Catholic church shows this to be a perfect match:






And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus:

Many Christians have been tortured and murdered for refusing to participate in the mass, or the "filthiness of her fornication." These "martyrs of Jesus" saw the Catholic mass to be an abomination above all others because it claims to be the literal sacrificial offering that cleanses the sins of man again and again. This is absolute heresy, because man is claiming to be able to do what only Jesus Christ Himself is able to do. The Bible tells us that Christ's sacrifice is complete, never to be repeated again. Yet the Catholic Church obviously rejects the scriptures by believing that the mass is needed for Salvation, and Christ's sacrifice is not sufficient.

The Catholics believe that when Christ said, "This is my body and blood," that He was speaking literally. Yet, they don't take him literally when He said He is the door. Is He literally made of wood? How about when He said His followers are sheep? Does that mean we are literally sheep? Or was He using an analogy? The Catholics believe that Christ's Salvation was granted at the last supper, before he went to the cross, which is absolutely obvious Scriptural heresy.

Vatican II states:
"Our Savior at the Last Supper... instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood..."

"[Jesus Christ] offered up to God the Father His own body and blood under the form of bread and wine..."

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Not only are they teaching a false doctrine that the bread and wine is the literal body and blood of Christ, but they are also teaching a heresy that this process must be repeated in the mass:

"The mass is truly a propitiatory [favor gaining] sacrifice.. [by which] the Lord is appeased. He grants grace... and He pardons wrongdoings and sins, even grave ones."

And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

Jesus said "this do in remembrance of me," (Luke 22:19) yet the Catholic Church, ignoring Christ's Words, uses the mass ceremony as the literal sacrifice for the sins of man. If the priests were able to turn the bread and wine into the literal body and blood of Christ, then Christ would not have needed to go to the cross at all. It was the rejection of this heretical Catholic belief and practice that lead the Roman Catholic Church to slaughter the saints.

John Foxe, in his book of martyrs, writes about Hugh Latimer, former bishop of the Catholic Church who was left the church to become a born-again Christian. Foxe writes:
"For he [Latimer] was not ignorant how the institution of holy water and holy bread not only had no ground in Scripture, but also how full of profane exorcisms and conjurations they were, contrary to the rule and learning of the Gospel."

The Catholic Church sought to end Latimer's preaching because he spoke the truth of the Scriptures. Not only was he a threat to their popish authority among the commoners, but also to the Catholic control over King Henry the Eighth. Latimer was held in high esteem by the king. The Catholics would have him thrown into prison to shut him up, and would only be released when word reached the king, and the king personally saw to his liberty.

When Queen Mary (aka Bloody Mary, who strictly carried the popish religion) took the throne, Latimer was sent for via letters, expecting that Latimer would flee the country. Instead, Latimer, knowing the true purpose behind the letters (and knowing he would be executed), came to see Queen Mary. Queen Mary, under direct influence of the bishops of the Catholic Church, "knew that his [Latimer] constancy should deface them in their popery, and confirm the godly in the truth."

For this reason, the Christian Preacher, Hugh Latimer, was burned at the stake on behalf of the Catholic Church in 1555. The same was done to Nicholas Ridley, a former Catholic Bishop, who turned away from the corruptions built by the Catholic Church to preach the truth.
Nicholas Ridley was accused of heresy by the pope, claiming the following:
"That thou [Ridley] hast publically affirmed and defended, that in the sacrament of the altar remaineth still the substance of bread and wine. That thou hast openly affirmed, and obstinately maintained, that in the mass is no propitiatory sacrifice for the quick and the dead."

Again, because he advocated for Christ's sacrifice once and for all to be sufficient, as the Bible teaches us, he was gagged for speaking against the heresy of their popish religion (because they did not want an audience hearing the truth of the Scriptures), nor would they allow him to argue his case. He was then burned alive by the Catholic Church.

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

There are far too many martyrs of Christ, persecuted by the Catholic Church to list in this small article. In all cases, the Catholic Church offered that these men would be spared the punishments of the "law" if they would simply admit papal authority over the Scriptures and recant of their teachings. They knew Biblical truth, refused to accept the pope's authority, and were executed.
Most Christians don't understand what a wolf in sheep's clothing really means. It does not mean you will be able to spot out the wolf at first glance. The wolf will have all the appearance of a sheep to those who don't look very carefully. These people will appear to be as close to a Biblical Christian as they can be with sweetness, kindness, patience, giving, and will appear to do the work of the Lord, but inside, they will be wolves.

The wolf in sheep's clothing is a very cunning decpetion. Many have come to accept wolves as part of the flock, and the flock now condemns anyone that points out where the wolves are located.
I am typically called a "Catholic Basher" for simply revealing this information, but I have no intentions of being harsh, nor cruel, with the catholics. I have met many loving, kind, and giving catholics that are wonderful people, and I am doing my best to love the catholics (even when they lash out at me), but I am for truth and against error, and what the Catholic Church teaches and practices is error. Though I am often demonized for speaking the truth, we really need to consider who is "bashing" whom?

The truth is that the Catholic Church is "bashing" the evangelical protestant Christians, and would be best understood by looking at the Catholic Church's position on works and indulgences from their own documents. The focus on works to be sufficient for Salvation, as the Catholic Church teaches, is heresy to Biblical Scripture, but Vatican II states:
"To gain indulgences [bonus points to get in heaven], the work prescribed must be done... From the most ancient times... good works were also offered to God for the salvation of sinners, particularly the works which human weakness finds hard... Indeed, the prayers and good works of holy people were regarded as of such great value that it could be asserted that the penitent was washed, cleansed and redeemed with the help of the entire Christian people."

For the wages of sin is death;

We are not Saved by works, we are Saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, but the Catholic Church is trying to change the wages of sin to "works," which is completely heretical to the Bible. The Catholic Church's official position is hatred and damnation towards every evangelical Christian, like myself, that believes we must have the blood of Jesus Christ paid to our account, and that no amount of good works will get you into heaven otherwise. The Council of Trent, which Vatican II re-proposes, says:
"If anyone says that the sacraments of the new law are not necessary for salvation... and that without them... men obtain from God through faith alone the grace of justification... let him be anathema."

The Catholic Church damns myself, and every other evangelical born-again Christian. So who is "bashing" whom? I'm in no way saying this is the official position of every catholic, but keep in mind, if you are a catholic, this is the official position of the popish religion you follow, making excuses for the Catholic church, instead of acknowledging the truth.

When one views the evidence of Revelation 17 without bias, it is clear that the Roman Catholic Church meets all the qualifications for being the covering under which the final Antichrist's New World Order will arise.

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The Christians have suffered greatly under the pope's rule over the kings of the earth, but the worst is yet to come. In the past century, the Roman Catholic church hasn't had much enforcement power in America, but the Catholic church is likely to be the woman riding the beast, and it won't be long before the Christians are heavily persecuted again.
  1. She is a city.
  2. She is built on seven hills.
  3. She is known as Babylon.
  4. She has committed spiritual fornication with the kings of the earth.
  5. She wears purple and scarlet.
  6. She carries a golden cup of fornication.
  7. She is drunk with blood of the saints.
If the description of Revelation 17 does not fit the Roman Catholic church, then I am unable to find an entity today that is powerful enough and matches even half of the seven descriptions with any accuracy. With the end days fast approaching, there is not enough time for such a new power to arise and be accepted so readily, and with 20-25% of the world's population claimed to be catholic, the Beast of Rome is poised to again take its prophisied position of power via the covering of the Catholic church.
