Normalizing open carry
« on: April 02, 2021, 11:17:25 AM »
Last night the group was discussing open carrying in public.
This morning one of the channels I follow posted this video:
https://youtu.be/W7rHXm5TcJs

I believe is a good illustration of what to expect if you are considering participating in the movement of making it normal to carry firearms openly in public.
Nehemiah 8:8 KJV — So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

That was very interesting. We need that here in Indiana.

I am thinking if citizens everywhere were allowed to walk around like that we would have a lot less crime. The first time I saw someone carrying open was in Alaska around 2004 and it was an old woman who looked like someone's grandmother. She got my attention so immediately because she was wearing a chest rig that looked to be holstering a Smith and Wesson model 500. I was fishing on the Russian river. Her reasoning I found out quickly was not to thwart off criminals but it was to deter the hungry grizzly bears. Open carry definitely sends a message of "I will defend myself."

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Matthew 3:10 KJV

We need that here in Indiana.
Actually, you need MUCH BETTER than that in Indiana.
The only reason those guys can lawfully open carry is because they are fishing.
In Florida you can only open carry if you are hunting or fishing.
That, in and of itself, is an infringement on 2A rights.

What I thought people might do (although it is likely to cause even more trouble) is to carry while wearing a tee shirt that says 'What Part of SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED Do You Not Understand?'

The governor of Iowa just signed a bill into law allowing residents to buy and carry guns WITHOUT a permit! I wonder how many states will follow this?

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed legislation into law on Friday lifting some restrictions to buy or carry a handgun in the state for law-abiding citizens.

The NRA-backed legislation named “House File 756” will take effect on July 1 and eliminates the requirement for law-abiding Iowans to obtain a permit to purchase a handgun from private non-licensed sources. Additionally, to carry a weapon, people will no longer need to have a permit as well.

Individuals will still have to follow federal law and go through an instant background check to buy from licensed sellers each time they purchase a gun.

Iowa is #20.
Tennessee will be #21, probably next week.
South Carolina, Florida and West Virginia are seriously working on it.

Some states have, or will have "permitless carry" (like TN) and others actually have "constitutional carry".
Permitless carry still leaves the power in the hands of the government. Though it is a step in the right direction it is not constitutional carry.

Here is another good example of normalizing the open carrying of firearms in public.
In this instance Kenny was out for a walk with his daughter while lawfully carrying his AR-15. (Armalite Rifle)
The police didn't violate his rights and this citizen informed them that they could expect to see him open carrying his long gun in the future..
This one is from Garrett, Indiana:

I know this is an old post but I didn't know where to ask you this question.
My husband and I are considering moving to Tennessee and he was wanting to know your gun laws in that state or a good place online to help us better know the gun laws.
2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Here is a good summary of TN laws:

I'm obviously in favor of carrying a weapon. I personally wouldn't open carry just for the fact that I don't want others to know what I have and where ect. One must remember that the best weapon is the mind.

Please keep in mind that if any of you decide to open carry, if you're not already, to always be aware of what's going on around you and always have a plan. God bless.
