not letting me post! limited to amount of characters. wow! can someone fix this?
-
It's a 20,000 character limit. Based on your previous posts, you tend to copy/paste a lot of stuff, so that's likely your problem. If you're not actually writing something yourself, then paraphrase it; it'll save you and everyone else a lot of time. There's no need to extend the character limit.
-
That was not a problem before, hmm. seems odd to me and it shouldn't matter. anyways its only allowing me around 150 characters, no whre's close to 20,000
-
That would be a problem on your end then; there's nothing I can do to change that.
-
Please explain How would that be a problem on my end.
-
Are you writing your posts somewhere else, such as Notepad, and then trying to copy/paste them into the box here? If so, then you need to go back and manually replace all of the apostrophes because this forum software does not recognise certain punctuation and will cut your post off at the character it doesn't recognise.
-
When I preview my post, it shows everything, then when I hit post, it cuts it out , anyways I haven

Well as you can see it did it again

And I

And it's cutting you off at the apostrophes. There's nothing any of us can do to fix that. That would be a problem with the forum software creators.

How can you tell where it

You are using apostrophies and it does not cut you off
-
I'm typing them directly into the box here. As I said, if you're copy/pasting from somewhere else, then you need to replace them all. Hit the back button on your browser to get back to what you typed in, see what character it's cutting you off at, then copy your whole message, and click on 'modify' on your post and replace the character it cut you off at.

I am typing into the box.

I can see that you are using apostrophies, but if I do, it cuts off my post, that’s so odd. Please Explain how that is possible?

Or he's writing on something that is not a standard computer; like if he's using his phone.
-
I have been using both phone and laptop.

Testing from my phone to see if the apostrophes I
Well, as you can see, typing from my phone didn't work here. This edit is being done on my computer.
-
BTW, The glitch has happened on both devices. most of the earlier posts were using my laptop, and then I switched to see if it would cut me off, and it did. currently on my laptop too.

I have this weird problem with my keyboard, it basically sometimes changes the letters and symbols that are under a tab. It happens all of a sudden, I have no idea how or why. Not sure if that explains the problem here, but it makes what I write: as in what button I press on the keyboard, into something different on my screen.
The only way i found to fix it, is to restart my device.
If that is the case with your laptop, then you are typing something else then what will gets into the post. So what you believe to be an ordinary symbol, is something different when you type.
Am I making myself clear?? I hope it may help you.
-
Masha, are you using a desktop or a laptop? I hate the keyboard on my laptop, so I sometimes plug in a USB keyboard and that seems to work pretty well.
-
Hi Jeanne, the computer that has this weird problem is a desktop. I am still trying to figure out why it does that, but I havent. It might just be a bug in my system..... but it takes so much time to try to make sense of it I just go around the problem each time it popps up:-)
-
@Masha
There is this malware called Microsoft Windows. It messes up the whole computer. Rumors are that over 90 percent of all desktop PCs are infected.
But it's quite easy to spot. If you have a blue or colourful window symbol in your left lower corner of the screen, you're probably one of the unfortunate victims. ;D

There's the standard apostrophe character, then there's the grave accent character (on my French Canadian keyboard, that key is above the acute E character, and when it is pressed along with an E or U afterwards, the letter gains an accent) that looks like an apostrophe when pressed alone. If using the latter character, this forum does not support it, likely because of an Unicode problem that the forum site has.
