Hello Charles,
Similar experience as you. I was in the IFB church for many years. The Lord had been convicting me for some time to leave the church. It was very hard to depart from my friends who I loved very much. However, God showed me the false teaching that was going on and eventually I did leave. Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Hello Scott,
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your introduction. The piece that really struck me was the last sentence you wrote.
Hear me, you young men and women. Do not trifle with Christ. Do not find yourself only bowing to Him in your final years. Having wasted your youth.
I think about the years that the locust have eaten quite often. I know how hard it is to not have some guilt when thinking of our past and wishing we could re-live it a better way. However, let us praise Jesus for His mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Let us be thankful that as the east is from the west so far hath he separated our transgressions from us.
I look forward to hearing more from you on the forum.

Welcome to the forum! I just finished reading your intro. Can you please expound on being a Christian since your were 7 or 8? I do not discount one can be saved at that age. However, I would just like to hear more about how you were convicted by the law and repented (Godly sorrow for wrong doing - 2 Corinthians 7:10 King James Version (KJV)10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. and believed / put your faith in Christ for your full payment of sin.

Hello Raymond, I really enjoyed reading your testimony. Especially the last sentence.
Ever since then I've been in repentance, unable to justify my sin, only able to grieve over it while looking forward to the time when my flesh won't cause me to sin anymore. I still can't wrap my head around why God would want me, but I'm so thankful that He loves me enough to put up with me and chasten me when I needed it.
When I read that I felt like I was looking into a mirror. I too feel so unworthy of the grace of God that in my mind I do not understand why he saved a man a wretched as me. I loved your honesty and humble spirit. I hope things work out and we hear more from you.

Welcome Ian. I'm looking forward to meeting you. I have to echo what Chris said. You came to repentance through the work of Christ who should receive all praise and glory. Apart from Christ everyone of us were lost sinners on our way to hell. Anyway, glad you are here. I think you will find the folks on here very nice and very interested in sound biblical teaching.

Hello William. I see that you are involved in a prison ministry. I am also involved in a jail ministry. Generally I meet with inmates once or twice a week at the local country jail here in Lawton Oklahoma. I am sure you have some interesting stories to tell and I would be interested to hear of your experiences. I am in agreement with Kenneth and Jeanne. I don't think a Bonsai tree in of itself is wicked or evil. Wiccans worship Mother Earth and trees and all sorts of very odd things. I personally am in awe of the beauty of God's creation. The problem is when we take the things that God has made and worship His creation rather than the Creator Himself.

I went back and re-listened to the first audio teaching on "Idolatry". I definitely have some things I need to clean up in my life. I totally get it when you were referencing scriptures that deal with idolatry in the heart. The verse that immediately came to mind for me was Matthew 5:18 These people draw near unto me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.. How many verses do we see where Jesus goes right after mans heart when it comes to sin.
Adultery - Matthew 5:28 8But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
The Lord sees what we try to hide from men
Jeremiah 17:10 - I the LORD search the heart, try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, [and] according to the fruit of his doings.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Very sad as well as upsetting to see this man so deceived. I know, because I was that guy that wrote Chris. I would argue that if you wanted to be blessed of God and not be cursed you MUST TITHE! Tithing did nothing for me but distort the Word of God Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. I have no problem giving to someone in need or to helping one of the brethren out who is in need. That is not to boast in me but in God who gives me the compassion to give to some one out of charity .

Severius, Thank you so much for posting those verses out of Jeremiah!!!! I had recently been seeking great things for myself. I have been offered several jobs that pay a lot of money and I was considering taking them just because of the money. One of them I was considering was out of state. I cannot believe I considered taking it and leaving my daughter back here not to mention leaving a ministry that God has me in! How foolish that would have been. God has removed from me the care of money and worldly riches and for that I am very thankful. These verses really got to me and solidified by decision to stay. I can be so foolish and unwise sometimes.

I wanted to start a post here just to see what people's favorite hymn was. With all the ungodly music out there i.e CCM, it's nice to know that there are people who lived that actually studied their bible and wrote very scriptural songs. My personal favorite is "How Great Thou Art" Every time I hear this song, it actually stirs my soul and am reminded just how awesome, great, and wonderful God really is! I just love this song. I can remember when I was a child my grandfather (who lived across the street) would sing this song to the top of his lungs. You could hear him in the neighborhood. This is a very special childhood memory of mine that I love think about.

Hi Jim. I know exactly where you are coming from with the false teaching on repentance from the majority of the churches I attended. For years (like you) I was unsure exactly what was happening in my life and years later realized that God was giving the the Spirit of Repentance of Godly sorrow of wrongdoing (sin). Anyway, glad you are hear. Look forward to getting to know you better:)

I agree with you Tonya. All of that rant only to end in a repentant heart. I hope it was true because I loved it as well as Chris' response of forgiveness. Repentance is such beautiful thing when it is sincere.
