Sort of reminds me of all of those cases of someone who kills someone close to them, then says "oh, they were working for the Nazis in a plot to bring down (insert other thing here)"...honestly though, if she doesn't think that there's way more sophisticated ways of watching people in the rapidly expanding digital age, then she's definitely kidding herself. Plus, it's not like one or multiple demons would be keeping eyes on her and what she's doing if she was doing anything that would cause them major issues.

Sad part is she'll probably end up supporting a conspiracy "ministry" who just spouts old news on black-op organisations or even makes things up as they go along with no real insider knowledge.

Such a shame

A few weeks ago, apparently a story broke, where (in)famous prosperity "gospel" personality "bishop" TD Jakes was outed as being involved with a lot of young men, even a few under legal age. That one actually came as little surprise to me, especially when he was galivanting around with a few well known people in hollywood (enough said), but the thing I found interesting was the reaction to it, as in a lot of people were surprised, as if no one ever saw it possible that he was capable of this.

Two quick an easy lesson to take away from this, number one, I dare say fame is poisonous. If everyone is speaking well of you, you're doing something very wrong, and when someone is spoken highly of in the entertainment circles, then there's every chance they are of the world and not of God, or as some places in the USA say "Lie down with dogs and you'll eventually get up with fleas".

Point two, and I know Chris has said this a number of times but there are sill WAY too many people that do this, respecting persons is sin, as James states in Chapter 2:

2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, [the Lord] of glory, with respect of persons.
2:2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
2:3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit
here under my footstool:
2:4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom
which he hath promised to them that love him?
2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

I'd also like to point out in 2:7 that James says they also blaspheme the name by which we are called. For those of you who aren't familiar, the prosperity gospel has two gods, money and themselves, they're the quintessential example of the section in 2 Peter Chapter 2:

2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation
slumbereth not.

Might be one for the "wild mail" section, from what I can tell this post is trying to promote one sect or another of hinduism. I'm going to be abrupt here...I will NEVER turn to such a system. For a start, the focus is on the happiness of the self, not charity towards others and this comes from the idea of the wheel of Karma, and Karma as a concept is basically "what goes around comes around", which completely fails in two ways. First way is that it promotes the idea of the "universe" giving good things to those who deserve it and bad things to those who deserve it, but this can allegedly be carried on from "previous lives", which leads onto its second failure which leads to general apathy when it comes to suffering, if someone is suffering? Eh, all good, they deserve it from what they did in a previous life...this is nothing if not cruel.

More over, the only way of escaping the "wheel of samsara" (the cycle of life and death more commonly referred to as reincarnation), involves a push towards so many "good works" and meditation and losing yourself (in a way literally) to a "greater consciousness" in which you eventually hope to ascend out of this cycle.

Christianity requires none of this. It is so much simpler,

romans  3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

There isn't one person who hasn't comitted an evil act in the world.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point,] he is guilty of all.

One offense is as bad as having broken the whole law. So if you've ever broken any of the ten commandments, then you are just as guilty as if you had broken all of them...the most common one, everyone has lied in their life, doesn't matter if it was over the lives of thousands of people or over who took the last chocolate muffin.

Jesus is called "a good teacher" in hinduism but is dismissed as a mere man, when by his own words he is the son of God and his death, burial and resurrection as payment for sin is the only way in which we can hope to be saved.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

There is no other way but through Christ...good works mean nothing in eternity.

Ephesians {2:8} For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: {2:9} Not of works, lest any man should boast.

And there is no guess work or "is it enough" thoughts running through your head the whole time...our God can not lie!

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

And repentance is not what many claim it today as a "change" or "turning"...it's to understand and feel the gravity of how severe and serious the breaking of the law is before the living God of creation and existance, the King of kings and Lord of lords. If you do have a repentant heart, then how do you get the assurance of God that you can be saved and live with him forever after we die?

Romans:  {10:9} That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. {10:10} For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

And I can say for absolute certainty in my life, Christ has never let me down, he never abandoned me even when I deserved it, he has provided for my needs and much more even when I was completely unworthy of it...and I know nothing I can ever do will even come close to repaying him for what he has done for me, cleansing me of sin and accepting me, but this is what real love is, self sacrifice for someone who especially can never repay you...The trimurti don't love you, they don't even care about you...Christ died for you to save you from the eternal torment that was meant for the devil and his angels, which is also where all unrepentant sinners will go...which would you rather choose?

Definitely one who enjoys deflection and changing the subject, but this guy and others like him seem to just not want to grow up. They'll try to justify themselves through feelings and when that doesn't work they'll try to win using feelings by calling someone the worst name they can think of, kind of like what some of us would do...when we were 4 years old.

It's almost like a lot of the cult like social activists that love to call people "nazi, racist, sexist, etc, etc"...they love using those words but mostly couldn't define them to pass an exam. As with the title of the video, so many love saying "You're a pharisee/sadducee," but couldn't tell you the first thing about either position.

I still can't get over how he spends a lot of time saying that titles and positions are bad...then later on goes on to say (paraphrasing): "How dare you question my testimony, it's been reviewed and approved by three distinctive scholars!"

His overt hypocrisy would be funny if it wasn't so tragic that he thinks those people's attitudes will mean anything when he stands before God, and God says the worst words any human could ever hear "I never knew you, depart from me".

So...he was proudly proclaiming he didn't like the status men give themselves in some denominations/education systems, but then goes on to say how well his testimony was graded by men?

Guess he didn't read Galatians 1:10:

"For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."

(PS, yes I know this bit isn't a biblical quote but It also reminds me of the line from Hamlet: "The Lady doth protest too much, me thinks")

Just saw the caption to the new teaching, (haven't listened yet but will soon,) and reminded me about a video done by Jeremiah Films on the SDAs, if they're correct then apparently the SDA apologists struggled to prove that even 10% of her writings were original material.  Guess just more proof that she wasn't a prophet or a "learned scholar", anyone remember when you were writing in early grade school years? Almost always based on something else wasn't it.

It'd be sadly embarrassing if it wasn't costing people their souls.

Probably the best thing for it Travis, and this is something I told my wife after she got saved, was that it doesn't matter what I say, or what a pastor says or any other person claiming to be a teacher, you have to read the bible for yourself (even if it's just going through the audio book while you're driving to and from work,) if what anyone says contradicts the bible, then it's the bible that wins out. All of the cults out there reveal themselves to have beliefs contradictory to the bible in one way or another, and if what Rowan said is correct and they believe in "racial purity" (which makes no sense at all, because what we call races is merely the result of the human body adapting to it's environment over long periods of time, if God didn't want people of different skin colours and backgrounds to be able to breed with one another, he would have made it impossible by natural means.) Then they sound no different in some of the beliefs preached in Mormonism and 7th day Adventism.

While it's not openly taught to most mormons, their doctrine classes humans with white skin as the human form of angels who fought valiantly in the war in heaven before Lucifer was cast out, and babies born with black skin as incarnations of the angels who refused to pick a side until the war was over. (For bonus points, look up mormon blood atonement, where there are 5 sins that the blood of Christ can never atone for, murder, adultery, homosexuality, apostacy from the temple and marrying a black person, so if I joined, by old mormon law, they'd have to kill me.)

I'm pretty sure Ellen G White tried explaining other skin colours as an "amalgamation" of breeding between people and animals, which on a genetic level doesn't make any sense.

Going back to your first question though, yes, Jesus did say he came to fulfil the law, not to destroy it. The law was fulfilled when his work was finished on the cross. If this group is insisting that the old law must be followed, then that would mean they would have to keep the letter of the law regarding the sabbath (which in modern day and world is virtually impossible, even more so if they insist you attend a church building every sabbath, then it really is impossible.) They would have to be performing blood sacrifices with a cow, goat, lamb or dove at an alter as Israel was commanded to in the desert, and would have to wash their clothes and wash their hands, and basically be quarantined until nightfall if they happened to touch a dead body (human or an animal carcass that was found somewhere.), engage in the natural obligations as man and wife, or even touch a living "unclean" animal.

Galatians 2:4 describes a similar situation:

"And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:"

Actually I think later on in Chapter 4 it kind of puts the whole thing into perspective as what happens when we become Christians.

4:3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
4:7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

in Romans it also says how we are now in the dispensation of Grace

6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Yes, there are still rules to follow, but when we are born again, we want to remove sin from our lives and if we have something in our lives that is sin that we do not know about, God is graceful to show us step by step why we should reject it and forsake it. I had it happen to me when I was involved in martial arts, the more time went on it was like things were getting in the way of me going to training sessions, I had a compulsion to destroy my training uniforms and grading papers but I couldn't explain why...it took another four or five years before I finally came across someone who put it into perspective and broke down why martial arts are so spiritually dangerous, and even now, I get times where I think it'd be good or healthy to go back to something like that, but then I remember how many styles we have today are descended from esotericism in one way or another, it's easier just to avoid doing it entirely.

In sort I'd say be very wary of them, if someone wants to try following the letter of Mosaic law then I won't get in their way, but that is a HEAVY burden to bare. I have seen a lot of people who have come out of the occult or other forms of very deep darkness only to be pulled asside into other cults such as the Hebrew Roots movement or 7th Day Adventism, which are both very legalistic cults where they require you to follow the letter of the law all the time or you risk losing your "salvation", which I think is exceptionally cruel and also undermines the power and mercy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Oh no, it was definitely clear enough...but if dealing with people over the years has taught me anything, it's that people don't like confronting things that challenge anything they have a romanticized idea of. Same reason why people don't like the idea that ultimately their governments aren't trustworthy, that there are tons of places all over the world where it's risky to enter and travel as an outsider, that obesity isn't "genetic" or "a simple thyroid problem" it's diet and in many cases a lack of self control, or that their parents would ever lie to them about santa clause or the easter bunny...or as the one you've seen and posted about in numerous articles...that religious leaders in any sect or cult are simply men, they aren't demi-gods but so many are held up in that position. In a way it reminds me of what some parents have told their children when their children have mentioned anything about ritual abuse "don't be silly, that kind of thing doesn't happen".

It's kind of like people don't want to believe that evil of an exceptionally dark nature could exist, especially in the modern day where people love thinking that we're "enlightened" and any kind of horrible act was long ago and far away.

Not sure who was originally credited with the line, but I think it still holds some weight "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist". I'd argue that his greatest deception was convincing himself that he could win against and somehow overthrow God, which ironically is something he's convinced himself of.

I would have thought the "Why did you say people protesting abortion clinics are wasting their time?" question was quite obviously answered...because they're protesting it on a medical/political level, when the big problem is on a spiritual level, same reason why handing out fresh needles and other drug paraphernalia in California and Oregon has only made the problem worse, not better, because trying to treat one symptom doesn't remove the cause.

If you know anything about the name...then you know. But seeing as how Chris is going through Seventh Day Adventism being a cult, started by a woman who received no more than a third grade education due to a head injury in her younger years and...I guess there's no other way to put it...spouting some of the absolute lunacy she did in her "prophecies" (I hate calling them that because they are pure fantasy at best,) I know some people out there are probably asking themselves "How does someone get that messed up to want to start their own cult?"...well, it's not hyperbole, Christian (birth name Christopher) is probably the best most recently documented person who might end up becoming something along the same lines if he remains unchecked.

It's an exceptionally long story that I can't even begin to completely document here, even in bullet points, but the short story is he's basically a man who is a highly functioning autistic who's partially famous for amalgamating cartoon characters and calling them his own, but also for being a target of a lot of trolling throughout his life since he started using the internet, and basically became the internet's first "LOL cow"...in old school terms he's considered a sideshow attraction if you will, but in the last few years after being obsessed with women (to put it mildly) for decades and being jailed for certain lewd behavior (the most family friendly terminology I can use here again,) he somehow came to believe that he was the reincarnation of Jesus Christ himself (this was after convincing himself that he was internally a woman, ludicrous I know, but his story is full of insanity,), and now released from prison he is now asking for "tithe" and probably a whole bunch of other stuff, but anyway. There are enough youtube videos out there documenting his life story, but if you want to know how cult leaders begin, this might be an interesting case study.

What does this have to do with cult leaders? Well, I think aside from demonic influence and control, a lot of cult leaders don't just happen overnight, they're not only created through years if not decades of mistreatment, but also from influence through their own fantasy or imagination. No, imagination isn't entirely negative, but it's something we have to keep a tight set of reigns on, as it mentions in 2 Corinthians:

10:4 "(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) {10:5} Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

Another reason why it's good to have a firm grounding in the bible.

PS: Apparently Chris Chan was attending a church building for much of his life, and I believe his "pastor" will have a lot to answer for because not only the "pastor" but the church counsellor who was assigned to him did little to nothing to curb his downward spiral. (I seriously doubt either one knew much if anything about the bible themselves to be honest, but that's personal opinion, I don't have any proof of that.)

Just a little addition to the beginning of the audio, in regards to the warnings in Revelation about any words being changed in the bible...It's also mentioned in Deuteronomy:

 4:2 "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish [ought] from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command
you."

I know there are people in the Hebrew roots movement who would point to this is a declaration only of the old law, but as Chris has mentioned a number of times, Jesus did fulfil the law, but that's a whole other thing. Point is I dare say God doesn't take his word being changed lightly, which is understandable, because if someone says God said something he didn't say, well, someone is obviously lying, and as Paul wrote in the book of Romans 3:4:

"...let God be true, but every man a liar..."

Also in the book of Galatians:

1:8 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. {1:9} As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Not at all, they're good verses, and for those of us born again in Christ and know he can not lie, this is a good foundation.

My point was with so many people who are half way between "new agers" and full blown pagans who love the idea "everyone has their own truth."...I find most people who spout that line are often time wiccans. Thing is it's almost always used as a way to excuse any wrong doings that they might be accused of or remove any accountability for anything they're guilty of. But the way they talk, I think they genuinely believe everything is "subjective"...I mean I could always use the argument that if I dropped a rock on their toe and said "there's no pain there, it's all in your mind, that's your truth," to anyone using reason it points out how ridiculous that philosophy is, but then the proponents of that idea will basically "no, that doesn't count, it's only when I want it to be" or something to that effect.

The thing is the whole concept is like those people are culticly brainwashed, and they have to hold to said ideal regardless of how flimsy it is. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to break through that kind of programming and actually have a conversation with them and hopefully witness to them.

A few tips when going through the bible. For starters, it depends on how used to the vernacular you are, anyone familiar with the works of William Shakespeare has a bit of an advantage, but there are plenty of audio book readings of it, and sometimes it can help to hear someone else read it out loud so you get more familiar with it. They're available on youtube although who knows how long that's going to last before the bible is eventually banned as "hate speech" 

When it comes to understanding the bible in it's entirety though, that is a monumental task. the gospel of salvation in the new testament is straight forward, but when it comes to understanding the rest of the bible, in the book of Isaiah there is an interesting passage

"28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? [them that are] weaned from the milk, [and] drawn from the breasts.
28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little:"

You'll pick it up piece by piece because there is a lot of doctrine, there's a lot of historical records, and there's a lot of hinted prophecy and overt prophecy scattered throughout, and when it comes to the book of Revelation...that's probably something we won't understand to it's fullest until after it's all come to pass.

Fun fact, even though the 12 apostles knew Jewish law, and were taught the prophecies, none of them were outside the tomb to greet Christ when he rose again from the dead, even later when Christ visited them after his resurrection, it was Christ who had to open their eyes and understanding to recognize him. All understanding comes from God so if you're stuck on something, pray and ask for knowledge and understanding. This is another reason why, despite what the mega-"churches" love to promote, a conversion to Christ isn't just a quick prayer, it's a life long and eternal thing.

Sometimes a breakthrough will take time, sometimes it'll take a long time...don't give up

Hi Travis,

Given some of the other "testimonies" that have come through on this section, I definitely commend you for your honesty. (Seriously, some salvation testimonies that have come up on this forum sound like manifestos for aspiring cult leaders, including one guy who kept referring to himself as I AM, hopefully you'll find out why that would make any Christian shiver,) I'm not sure what you've discussed with Chris but I'd like to say a few things that might help you out.

Definitely admitting you've done anything wrong is hard, and the thought of surrendering your life to a being who is powerful way beyond even our wildest imagination is very daunting, but the truth is that we can never save ourselves, we can't even make the first step on that journey, because you can't polish silver with a cloth that's been left in a septic tank. I said it to a few people I used to attend a church building with and it was like they'd never heard the idea before that salvation being a free gift is a little bit of a misnomer, it isn't something that you can work for or pay off or push towards, but it does require giving up something, the very thing that caused Lucifer to be cast out of heaven and become what we know today as Satan...we have to give up our pride.

Everyone has a different path in life, and every born again believer on this forum doesn't have the same testimony, although there are some common elements to some stories, but there are a few on here who will tell you that but for the grace of God, we would be dead today, we would have died in our sins and been cast into hell forever. And when we became born again in Christ, there are times when we still sin, in various ways, but God is nothing like the false gods of the innumerable cults out there, that casts you out until you've done enough good works to work your way back into the fold...there are times where God will reprimand you, or punish you, or allow the mistakes of your choices to run their course in the fleshly world, but he will NEVER abandon you or give you more hardship than you can handle, and there are times where you think you're the most rotten unworthy person because of things you've done, and he will still look after you, he will still protect you. There's a good reason believers refer to him as The Father, because he is everything a loving caring father should be and so much more. When I feel like garbage, look at the world and ask how could God love us when we're so evil at heart?...my mum used to tell me that if I or anyone else was the only person in the world who could be saved in the last 2000 years, Christ would have still died for us, as much as his sacrifice on the cross was for you and for me, it was for the entire world.

Coming to terms with the severity of sin is hard, because it goes way deeper than the physical consequences, but doing that is so much easier than the alternative. A lot of anti-theists and regular hedonists love to call that "fear-mongering", but what's worst? Not wanting to hurt someone's feelings and knowing someone will burn forever, for all eternity to pay for their sin or saying something they may not like here so that they can have a chance to make the most important decision of their lives?

We're not guaranteed life tomorrow, and I say that if you do come to repentance, and you're still worried about giving your life to Christ, then remember it's like any major life life changing decision...it may not feel like a good time, but there's never going to be a better time.

It's a common way to tell the weather, there was an old saying of:

"Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning, red sky at night, sailor's delight."

A red tinge to cloud cover in the morning often time says that there's going to be rough weather that day, but the same tinge to the clouds in the evening says that it'll be fair weather the following day, it's not always accurate, but what Jesus was talking about there is that the signs and miracles he was doing was making it so blatantly obvious as to who he was, but they still couldn't see it, so they'd put their faith in something that wasn't always certain (like the cloud colour) but, well, we all know what they thought of Christ.

Lowering (pronounced more like Lau-er-ing) just means angry or menancing, so the sky was basically meant the weather would probably be rough and threatening.

Just wondering,

In current day and age, we have more people who've swallowed new age philosophies hook, line, sinker and in some cases the rod and reel as well, and whenever you come up with a counter point to anything they believe in, they love throwing out the line "well that's your truth." regardless of the evidence. I'm genuinely wondering, if they love categorizing between "someone's truth" and THE truth...how can the tell even tell the difference when so many of them are willing to basically say "well that's your opinion" when you give hard evidence to a truth that's right in front of them?

Has anyone managed to get through to them? If so, any tips on how to do it?

Reading it again I remember I did go over it, and it did seem to be a common theme in a lot of these accounts, they never mention God's judgement on Sin (the reason Hell exists to begin with) or repentance to salvation, and often time they rarely even mention Jesus Christ. Also you'd think that seeing someone as horrific as Hell, well, I think the concept was best described in a line I heard in regards to "ghost hunting" which said "Spotting a fake is easy, anyone who claims they're happy  to have seen a ghost is clearly lying, it's the ones who wish they never had who I'm more inclined to believe." (While I in no way believe in "spirits of the dead" returning to earth to haunt places, that's been anything to the brain affected by odd or excessive electromagnetic fields, to psychotropic drugs to down right veiled demon manifestations,) I can't help but have that same outlook for a lot of these cases. Anyone recounting an experience of such a place would be scared to even remember it, kind of like a "Vietnam Flashback".

Definitely reminds me to be skeptical of these kinds of accounts, but not dismissive.
