(just a short exercise for me to get used to using the scripture button on the forum.)
For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
Luke 9:56 KJV
So they went on to another village.
Luke 9:56 NLT
Then they all went on to another village.
Luke 9:56 CEV
Then he and his followers went to another town.
Luke 9:56 ERV
And they went on to another village.
Luke 9:56 ESV

I learned more on compare bibles then I have 20 years in church

Wow. What is it about the first part of that verse that every other version seems to feel a need to leave it out?

Maybe because it might exclude works based salvation?

It wasn't about feeling a need; it's because they're based on the minority texts. These people honestly translated from corrupt manuscripts. It was the people who created those original minority manuscripts who corrupted God's Word, and the Catholic Church did everything they could to preserve that corruption.

I never encountered any teaching on the perversion of the versions until about a year ago. This still astounds me. I abandoned the NIV soon after picking it up. But I depended on the NKJV for many years. Then I ran across an explanation of the thees, thous etc on you tube by Jason Zelda. He followed that up with several videos about the KJB verses the perversions. I had gotten a couple really nice bibles in NKJV and I guess I'll burn them. I will keep one I have very marked up delineating many of the errors for teaching purposes. Here's one I want to add that most of the extremely perverse versions include BUT so does the NKJV.
Mat 7:14

I know this is an old thread. Just came here to say it

Your post got cut off, Jackie. If you don't type apostrophes directly into the post box from a computer, the forum won't recognise them and will cut off the post at that point. Typing them from a mobile device doesn't work, either. It's been a royal pain, but there's nothing we can do about it. Something about the code...

Thanks Jeanne, forgot about the pesky forum software. All I had wanted to say was it grieves me that different Bible versions will cut out certain things and, therefore, kind of make some of the verses to say something they are not.
